It doesn’t matter anymore

I am the person stuck

in a traffic jam when

an ambulance is given

clearance to pass. It rushes,

blaring a wail; I suppress mine

As I realize that I have missed

The last flight back. I hope

he lives, that person grappling

with death. Miles away, the one

I needed to see, is done fighting.
